Whilst painting this scene, I got the feeling the young boy on the cart is really enjoying his role as an important deliverer of wood!

My Great Grandfather James Reynolds married Eliza Humphries in St. Mary's Church.The painting depicts the arrival of motor cars down Lowgate.Their sputtering and back firing engines must have caused havoc amongst the more familiar horses and carts.
