Getting a Bargain and taking it Home

Walking past Prince Street the open market in front of Holy Trinity Church on Saturday was always a feast for the senses!

The stall holders would be tempting customers with their latest gadgets nestling in shiny boxes of all shapes and sizes.

Heated curlers and kitchen ware were always very popular.

I once bought a bundle of old Edwardian hand painted postcards for a few shillings and a 78 featuring "The Street Singer".

Bill Berry was Hull's local singer. He could be heard down Upper Union Street in the early hours singing to the stars on his way home to The Mansions or William Booth Hostel for a bed for the night.

The painting is not for sale.
