One of the pleasures of growing up in Hull was the Pier.As a child my brother and I were taken for walks on its top deck and we were treated occasionally to an ice cream at a nearby van.

We would watch people getting off the ferry and follow its course across to New Holland.Groups of lads would fish with homemade rods.They were often scruffy in hand me downs, torn trousers and smelly wellies!
