Medium: Oils on Canvas
Original Size: 99cm x 79cm
This is the last of the working dry docks on the River Hull and it bears witness to a time when river trade was paramount in Hull's economy.I painted this picture because I loved the general untidiness and clutter of the workplace. The site sits on the vestiges of a previous age which is still visible in the dock's foundations.
I was also drawn to the beauty of the light on the buildings, wood and water in the summer afternoon.
Although outside the area of Old Town that I knew, this building since demolished was an iconic building on the River Hull. The combination of old Victorian brick, modern materials, wooden stilts for the river bank, mud and river water proved an exciting combination for me to paint.
The original painting is also available for sale. Please contact me for further details and prices.
