Society of Women Artists

This year I submitted one of my paintings for the 149th Annual Exhibition of the Society of Women Artists. They are based in London and exhibit in the Mall Galleries near Admiralty Arch.
Their patron is HRH Princes Michael of Kent. They are internationally recognised and have an excellent reputation.

I was delighted to learn that my painting entitled “Beverley Minster, Winter Jobs” was accepted by the selection panel as “work of a very high standard”.

The painting began life as a demonstartion piece during an evening with Driffield Art Club. It depicts the Minster from Queensgate allotments on a snowy still wintery morning. The air hangs frozen over the allotments. A figure stands over his compost box, clearing the snow and the dead vegetation.

It was painted in oils and continues my fascination with the Minster and the changing seasons.
