Springtime in Goodmanham

Medium: Oils on canvas

Original size: 76 x 51

The commission was to portray a field of daffodils.

I loved painting this scene from an upstairs window of my client’s house.

I think it successfully captures a corner of the Wolds.

I enjoyed painting the lovely, dancing daffodils in their full glory.

Behind the field can be seen the overgrown embankment where the old railway bridge still supports part of the disused track.

I was struck by the distant, beautiful, feathery, purple-bluish trees and bushes.

They were just beginning to suggest the coming of Spring.

I had to use a variety of greens and purples to capture what I think is the unique beauty of the Wolds.

My client was very pleased with the result.
