This painting was a great pleasure to do. It was such a rich tapestry of stone, brick and a living garden! It gave me the opportuntiy to depict the Minster as an age old presence in the ordinary life of the people of Beverley.

Asking for a picture that included the garden, the house and the Minster was always going to be a challenge; a challenge gratefully received and magnificently executed. The balance between the materials and design of the house and that of the Minster and between the domestic and the grand, is captured perfectly.
